As the name implies, the Quackerees series is based upon ducks. If you are looking for calming scenes of colorful waterfowl or information about wetland preservation, you are at the wrong site.
In Quackerees, the ducks take on human form. Absurd, you say? Next time you are out in any public place, allow your imagination to roam a little and envision everyone around you as a duck. I assure you that at the very least, the corners of your lips will lift into a slight grin if not a suppressed laugh. That’s assuming you like ducks, of course.
Quackerees are sculpted from polymer clay and entirely hand-painted in durable acrylics. Each character is a one-of-a-kind, displayed on a stained or painted hardwood base or stage. Great attention is given to the small details that transform a duck into a human form, intent upon invoking a smile from all who see the little guys in action.
The first series of Quackerees is a tribute to the classic rock & rollers. Many are based upon actual concert photos of the artists, capturing them forever as we remember them. As rock stars, they would not be complete without their instruments, amplifiers, and battery-powered working stage lights to give some drama to the scene (yeah, right…). Little “editorial touches” such as tiny bottles of liquor are added to those who were known to occasionally take a sip or two… for medicinal purposes only, of course.
“Stage and Screen – the Thespians”
The second series of Quackerees is devoted to the characters and legends of the theatre and movies. Come on, didn’t you ever imagine what the movie “Braveheart” would have been like had Hollywood cast a duck instead of Mel Gibson? Or the rapid tattoo of Irish step dancers had ducks been cast rather than Michael Flatley’s troupe in Riverdance? Think about it… ducks in classic scenes as classic characters….
Prices of Quackerees vary according to the complexity of the work. Those available works exhibited here are priced, with new artists being added on a regular basis. Custom order Quackerees are encouraged and prices are determined based upon the difficulty of the scene and the props required to complete the work. Each work will be a one-of-a-kind, signed and dated by the artist.
Time to let your imagination loose and waddle the path to the world of Quackerees.
